1

Day 1: Departure - Arrival Cape Town, South Africa

Welcome to Cape Town!

After arriving at Cape Town International Airport (usually in the morning), meet your local guide/driver (pre-arrival arrangements need to be made and additional charges may apply), who will transfer you to the hotel, where you will be greeted by one of our friendly tour guides. Here you will have the opportunity to freshen up before you can explore the nearby V&A waterfront.

When all tour participants have arrived, we meet for a welcome reception and refreshment, with the introduction of all tour participants and tour leaders. The evening’s program is getting to know each other.

2

Day 2: Cape Town

(Explorer & fun day)

Join one of our local guides for a city tour of the vibrant Cape Town. We recommend the city tour bus, which includes the Highlights of Cape Town and the Table Mountain Cable Car Ride (optional charge). On the bus tour, you will be able to see and experience all the main attractions of the city.

Early evening there will be a tour briefing followed by a welcome dinner at an African restaurant with music and entertainment.

3

Day 3: Cape Town – Hermanus

(Driving day 1: 140 km/90 miles)

This is the day we start our South Africa Cape Adventure tour! We drive to the local Harley Davidson Dealer. When everyone is ready on their bikes, we start our ride on the 1.940 miles/3.100 km long Cape Adventure tour. Beautiful Cape Town disappears behind us as we head south for a unique adventure full of history and fun.

We spend the day driving along the coast to Betty’s Bay, where we visit the local African Penguin colony. Our destination is the coastal resort town of Hermanus, famous for its whale watching (During the winter months southern right whales migrate from the Antarctic to these shores).

4

Day 4: Hermanus – Mossel Bay

(Driving day 2: 420 km/260 miles)

Today we ride through the granary of South Africa to the most southern tip of Africa, Cape Algulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet. This can be best viewed by ascending the old lighthouse. In Bredasdorp, we visit the Kapula Candles where the famous candles are handcrafted.

After lunch in the historic town of Swellendam, we ride along the garden route to Mossel Bay, where Bartholomeu Diaz and Vasco da Gama came ashore during the 15th century. Here you will have
the opportunity to swim in the Indian Ocean.

5

Day 5: Mossel Bay – Storms River

(Driving day 3: 250 km/156 miles)

6

Day 6: Storms River – Addo Elephant National Park

(Driving day 4: 230 km/145 miles)

We continue along the Garden Route, in addition to a small section of the well-known Route 62. We reach the surfer’s paradise; Jeffries Bay, just in time for a coffee break. Here you also will have an opportunity to shop at the Billabong and Quicksilver factory outlets, where great bargains are to be found. Thereafter, we ride to our guest lodge near Addo Elephant National Park, where we have lunch and the afternoon to relax by the pool. Late afternoon, we depart for the Addo Elephant NP and one of the highlights of the tour; a true African experience, a combined sunset and night safari in an open safari vehicle. Snacks, beer, and wine will be served during the drive. As early as 1931 the National Park had been established and now offers the BIG FIVE: elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard.

Enjoy great experiences in scenic surroundings!

7

Day 7: Addo – Graaff-Reinet – Eastern Cape

(Driving day 5: 250 km/156 miles)

Today we ride through the Little Karoo region to the historic town of Graaff-Reinet, which is one of the oldest and best-kept towns with its more than 200 historical and protected buildings. On the route, we will see Vervet Monkeys. After lunch, you will have time to relax at the pool before ascending the steep and curvy road to the Valley of Desolation, located in the Camdeboo National Park. Not only are the views of the valley and the Karoo landscape below breathtaking, but you might also spot the majestic black eagle.

8

Day 8: Graaff-Reinet – Oudtshoorn – Western Cape

(Driving day 6: 340 km/213 miles)

The town of Oudtshoorn beyond the mountains would certainly be a sleepy hollow were it not for the high number of large ostrich farms. The earlier boom times of ostrich feather farming are long gone but today the meat and leather are extremely popular commodities. We shall visit an ostrich show farm and will discover what makes the ostrich industry so important today. Tonight’s Dinner will have ostrich steak on the menu and paired with excellent local wines, which will make up for a perfect evening!

9

Day 9: Oudtshoorn – Touws River

(Driving day 7: 350 km/219 miles)

This morning we ride Route 62, which is very famous in South Africa. It’s comparable to Route 66’s fame in the USA; a bit smaller but definitely as appealing. It also happens to be the longest wine route in the world and some wineries along the route produce some of the best port wines. It goes without saying that we shall visit the obligatory biker pubs, like Ronnies Sex Shop, the Diesel & Creme Diner, and the Karoo Saloon – all their owners are of course avid Harley Bikers and are looking forward to our visit. Our afternoon ride will lead us over two nice passes and thru the historical town of Montagu, located on Route 62. Of interest, the town is well known for its fruit farms and dry fruit production

10

Day 10: Touws River - Stellenbosch

(Resting day or driving day 8: 325 km/203 miles)

This morning we will start the day by riding over our first exciting mountain pass and will arrive in the Ceres area. The narrow and curvy Bian’s Kloof Pass will give you amazing views over the wine country. We will have lunch at a winery, where you can also do some light wine tasting. The afternoon will lead us over the du Toits Kloof Pass and the scenic Franschhoek Pass. The Cape Winelands with its well-known villages of Paarl, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch is only an hour’s drive away from Cape Town. This region was founded by the former Dutch and French colonists and is well known to produce fine wines. After a few more challenging mountain passes we arrive in the so-called heart of the winelands region.

11

Day 11: Stellenbosch – Cape Town

(Driving day 9: 160 km/100 miles)

We depart the historical town of Stellenbosch, founded by the Dutch settlers. The town is not only the focal point of the wine industry but has several historical Cape Dutch buildings as well as the Stellenbosch University. We then ride toward False Bay and follow the coast to the Cape of Good Hope passing through a few quaint fishing villages.

The Cape of Good Hope was first rounded by the explorer Bartholomeu Diaz in 1488 in search of a new trade route to the east around the tip of Africa. We then head toward Cape Town along the spectacular Chapmans Peak Drive and through the popular beach resorts of Hout Bay, Camps Bay, and Clifton. We will arrive in Cape Town to return the motorbikes just in time for Lunch.

You will spend the last two nights in Cape Town again. This afternoon and evening will be at your own leisure where you can dine at one of the many restaurants in the V&A Waterfront.

Our Travel Tip: Enjoy a sunset cruise on a catamaran yacht followed by dinner in one of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town.

12

Day 12: Feldkirch - Cape Town

(Explorer & fun day)

Enjoy your last day in Cape Town according to your own preference. We recommend a visit to the V&A Waterfront, Long Street, Green Market Square, or the Camps Bay/Clifton Beaches.

Our Travel Tip: Enjoy a Helicopter Flight over the Cape and the 3 surrounding Coves.

13
